Shark Bait and Sally

Ethan and Rachel are now the proud owners of two unique shrimp. Ethan named his Shark Bait (the one that looks like the spider) and Rachel named her shrimp, Sally (red and white stripes). Jason thought getting them a surprise would be a good idea before he left for his 5 week TDY; little did I know it would be two pets instead of a toy or some candy.

Swim Lessons

We finally had time to fit swim lessons in our schedule. Ethan and Rachel turned into little fish; learning to freestyle, dead man float, dive, and even go down the slide in the deep end. Making a trip to the base pool has a whole new meaning now, knowing they can swim instead of sink to the bottom.

Extreme Week!

This week wasn't your typical vacation bible school, it was EXTREME! Ethan and Rachel's first time and it was totally awesome. They enjoyed ichanging lessons and made many friends. I don't remember having laser tag or a video game truck at my VBS growing up, wow have times have changed. We love our church and it will be a very sad day when our time is up here on the coast.

Luke and Jacob visit MS

We had our nephews visit for a couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure they had a good time. They did plenty of fishing, Luke taught Rachel how to hang 10 on the skim board at the beach, Jacob and Ethan hunted for hermit crabs at the beach, made some new friends, and lost a few games of poker to me and Jason. Speaking of poker, making a bet with Aunt Crystal has a whole new meaning to them now. Our first wager was whoever lost had to wear their name in marker on their forehead, the second loser had to mow the lawn. I think you can tell by the picture who lost and Luke had to mow the lawn. Then we upped the wager the next game with whoever the loser was between me and Luke, owed the winner a round of golf. Needless to say, Luke will be taking me out for a game of golf next time I'm in TX. The loser between Luke and Jacob had to clean the others' room when they got home. Just to clarify, they BOTH agreed to all the wagers made prior to playing, they just didn't plan on losing. They managed to catch a lot of fish, a few of them keepers, and many crabs. We had a huge seafood dinner their last night here.

Happy Independence Day!

There was a wonderful block party planned for our neighborhood and it was completely rained out. The block party was going to be started by a bike parade for the kids and we just finished decorating their bikes and a huge storm blew in, love the coastal weather! It's hard to believe this time last year we were loading a Penske truck with all our belongings preparing to leave Grand Forks. I think I'll take a rained out 4th of July on the coast over doing a full DITY anyday.
